Professional Educational Event On Healthy Cooking

On the occasion of World Heart Day, September 29, 2024, and under the theme Invest in Your Heart Health, the International Union of Arab Master Chefs, in collaboration with the Nutrition Consultation Center of the internationally accredited Islamic Hospital in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, conducted an interactive educational workshop on Healthy Cooking for Heart Health. The workshop was attended by 50 chefs representing the International Union of Arab Master Chefs.

The event was led by Dr. Basem Abu Baker, a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition and Community Health, representing both the Islamic Hospital and the Food and Nutrition Society in Jordan.

The event was opened by Chef Nesreen AlWady, Director of the Arab Master Chefs in Jordan, who emphasized the importance of the International Union’s role in meal preparation, particularly focusing on healthy meals that support the health and safety of Arab communities across all age groups. Her insightful introduction was well received by Dr. Basem Abu Baker and the attendees.

The workshop focused on:

  • Healthy methods for preparing well-balanced meals.
  • Reducing the risks of heart disease and other non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure, obesity, and cancer.
  • Presentations on smart and functional food that support immunity, brain health, and bone health.

The event was highly interactive, with attendees actively engaging in the discussions. All participants were awarded certificates upon completion of the workshop.

As a gesture of appreciation, Chef Nesreen AlWady presented a plaque to the Islamic Hospital for hosting this unique workshop, the first of its kind in Jordan. Additionally, she presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr. Basem Abu Baker, who is also the Secretary General of the Jordanian Society of Food and Nutrition.

The workshop concluded with an open discussion and a group photo session. The collaboration between the Islamic Hospital in Amman and the International Union of Arab Master Chefs is expected to continue, with future educational workshops planned for various global health awareness days.

The International Union of Arab Master Chefs extends its gratitude to Dr. Mohammed Thunaibat, General Manager of the Islamic Hospital in Amman, for his ongoing support of the Union’s educational programs.
